INJECTABLE FILLERS

INJECTABLE FILLERS – FLEMING ISLAND, FL*

OVERVIEW
Overtime, the face begins to lose volume and gains fine lines and wrinkles. Injectable fillers, sometimes called dermal fillers, are used to treat wrinkles and loss of fullness. While a face lift or other plastic surgery can address some of these concerns, many people haven’t reached this stage yet. They are looking for a solution that doesn’t involve general anesthesia and surgery. An injectable filler is a minimally invasive cosmetic treatment that is a wonderful method for restoring skin to a smoother, younger appearance. Maria is a highly skilled and experienced injector who has performed thousands of filler treatments to help his clients achieve their aesthetic goals. As an added bonus we also have a talented Nurse Practitioner on staff that can perform these injections.

 CALCIUM HYDROXYAPATITE

Calcium hydroxyapatite is a substance found naturally in human bones. It is a mineral-like compound and one of the heavier dermal fillers. This particular filler treatment is generally used for deep crevices and creases. It can also be used in some areas to stimulate collagen and elastin in the skin when used as a hyper-diluted injectable.

HYALURONIC ACID

Hyaluronic acid is a natural substance that exists in the human body. It can be found in connective and skin tissue and cartilage. It is extracted, reformulated and then offered as a derma filler. It is a popular choice because of its compatibility.

Which one is best?

All of the wrinkle relaxer treatments on the market today serve a specific purpose, and each does it well, depending on the patient and their precise needs. With that said, BOTOX continues to be the gold standard wrinkle relaxer treatment and leads the market with millions of injections given each year. It’s common for practitioners to use more than one product in a session. For example, some patients react better to BOTOX to treat forehead lines and Xeomin to treat Crow’s feet. Every patient is different, and therefore, we offer two options in neuromodulators to best suite you.
DURING/AFTER THE PROCEDURE

Prior to treatment, the practitioner will assess various aspects of the face and make marks directly on the skin to note where the injection sites will be. The face will be cleansed and a topical local anesthetic will be applied to help numb the top layer of skin. Using a syringe with a fine needle, the filler will be injected into the marked areas until the desired fullness has been achieved. Most patients are pleased with their results. While this will vary by filler product, most will produce results lasting from 6 months to a full year.

INJECTABLE FILLER FAQS

 ARE FILLERS SAFE?

All injectable fillers on the market today are FDA-approved and are safe to use. It is important to discuss the differences between each filler treatment to decide which is the best choice for your specific situation.

 LONG-LASTING RESULTS?

The results of each injectable filler treatment will vary. On average, most will last between 3 months and a full year. Juvederm are among some of the most common fillers and usually last 6 months or longer.

 FILLERS VS. BOTOX?

Dermal fillers and neuromodulators are both injectables that are used to enhance the face, but there are important differences between them. The various options available for addressing facial rejuvenation and address wrinkles and volume loss may be a bit confusing. When some hear the term dermal filler and assume that it also includes neuromodulators such as Botox and Xeomin. While these options are all injectables, they each are used for a different purpose to help provide specific outcomes.

  • Dermal fillers. Dermal fillers use naturally occurring substances such as hyaluronic acid or calcium hydroxyapatite which help to restore lost volume in areas like the cheeks, lips, temples and jawline. When injected into the skin, these substances create a more youthful contour and can be used to plump up those problem areas where wrinkles have formed. Results from dermal filler injections can last from six months to two years, depending on the product used.

  • Neuromodulators. Neuromodulators, most notably the varieties known as Botox® and Xeomin®, use a type of protein to temporarily paralyze facial muscles. This helps reduce the appearance of wrinkles caused by overactive facial muscles that create crow’s feet around the eyes or forehead lines. Results from neuromodulator injections can last up to three months before additional treatment is necessary.
