In its 51 years, the museum has grown to be one of the largest and most renowned museums of its kind in the United States.

The Middleburg Museum houses one of the largest collections of antique firearms in the state with more than 1,000 guns and accessories in total. Many of these items are on view in the museum’s gallery building as well as in the “gun shop” next to the museum. One of the most popular and in-depth exhibits in the museum is “The Art of Gunmaking” which looks at the craft of gunmaking from the Renaissance to the present day. The museum’s collection of historic firearms includes guns made by companies such as Smith & Wesson, Colt, Winchester, Remington, Browning, Savage, and more.
